Chevrolet Builds Siri Into A Car

One of the major things that people love about cars is how they integrate with their Smartphones. Currently the best integration is usually through Bluetooth where you can make phone calls and, by using the home button on the phone, use Siri. But General Motors is looking to change all of that with their new Chevrolet cars by having deep integration with Siri.

Smartphones have been integrated better and better with cars lately as car companies see that we need the integration in order to keep users safe while listening to music and making phone calls while driving. The one thing though that users don’t understand is how dangerous texting can be while driving. Apple was hoping to decrease the amount of texting while driving by making Siri for the iPhone. Now Siri has been integrated into the car to make it even more simple to not text while driving.

The connection couldn’t be simpler just connect via Bluetooth and then all you have to do is use the on steering wheel button and boom instant Siri access. The voice recognition is actually done inside the car and the response is handled through your phone and then played through your speakers, super simple. Check out the videos here and here for demonstration on how it works.
This is a great example of connecting your devices to everyday items and making your life simpler in the process. Hopefully this is the first step with a car company to making really good integration with that is not limited with a car. All car companies take note to what General Motors is doing. Now only if Siri would work.
