New Apple Patent Suggests Wireless Headphones

With the release of the iPhone 5 Apple also released new headphones, known as EarPods. It looks though as if Apple might have another set of headphones down the line. Click after the break for more details.

While this looks awesome we have to keep in mind there is not a week that goes by that Apple does not file a new patent. With that in mind let us proceed in our conjecture.
The patent is entitled “Detachable Wireless Listening Device” was approved by the USPTO this week. It has very little details but is to “be used in conjunction with a host device to provide an end-user a pleasurable listening experience, especially during periods of physical activity.” This sounds like normal Apple Headphones except for the Wireless portion. There are lots of vendors that will let you purchase wireless headphones for use with Apple devices but nothing that came standard with your device.
It seems that even though Apple has spent so much time and money for three years redesigning their Headphones they will be looking forwards to the future. While this is true I know that I am not alone in saying that iDevice users would welcome a wireless option to the EarPods.

By the looks of the above picture one could plug-in your headphones just like normal but then if you want to can detach them and use them as wireless headphones. This fixes major issues with wireless headphones currently on the market and the fact that you have to find an outlet to be able to charge them, with this solution you just plug back into the other half of your headphones and their charging up. Also if you were to accidentally detach the wireless section of the headphones then your audio wouldn’t ever stop, it would just continue playing seamlessly.
While this does get me excited for what headphones Apple will be producing in the future, if these headphones are ever made, they most likely will be sold as an accessory not an in box standard piece of equipment. With how much money Apple is most likely getting from the 30 pin to Lighting connector accessory at $25 a piece they will most likely adopt a similar business model to these better headphones.
