WARNING About Next Week’s iOS 6/6.0.1 and iPhone 5 Untethered Jailbreak
NuttGuy December 11, 2012
A new so-called “developer” calling himself “Dream JB” is sturing up a lot of buzz in the jailbreak community. He claims to have a fully untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and 6.0.1 for the iPhone 5 and compatible devices. We can only hope that this is true but according to most major jailbreak developers, and common sense, it isn’t.

According to the website and Twitter of the now very popular Dream Jailbreak developer working alone and without any help from the a dev team, has supposedly developed a fully working untethered jailbreak for not only iOS 6 and 6.0.1, but the iPhone 5 and other A6 devices. While I am sure that we all hope this to be true the renowned and trusted members of the Jailbreak community have come out in saying that it is most likely a fake.
According to iH8sn0w on Twitter:
“Never trust anyone who has never released anything credible in the past.” He went further, urging those anxious for a jailbreak to proceed with the utmost caution. “Don’t get your hopes up, but also don’t just download anything.. it seems like a very smart thing to do to distribute a new virus.”
Apple TV jailbreaker NitoTV commented on this whole debacle by saying:
“so to be clear, at least for me, code napoleonic law in jailbreak community as far as proof is concerned. fraud until proven otherwise.”

While this would be awesome news and something great for the community while they sit anxiously for a new jailbreak, personally I just don’t see it being true. Jailbreaks take months to develop and require an abundance of knowledge on the subject which makes it very unlikely that someone would just come out of the blue and have a fully working iOS 6 jailbreak. That being said though, Dream Jailbreak has claimed that a video showing proof will be posted tomorrow (12/12) and that will show the entire jailbreak process and a restart as proof of it being an untethered jailbreak. As soon as this video is released tomorrow, there will be quite a few experts with a good eye on catching something being faked. After all, this isn’t the first time something like this has spun up regarding a jailbreak. We speculate that the video (if it even gets released) will be faked. Along with some screenshots and the date itself of the official release on December 22, 2012. Clearly this is an amateur just trolling and trying to have a little fun (considering the fact that the world is supposed to end on the 21st of December.)
Now, if this person does actually release something in a program form, we highly suggest that you don’t even touch the link this person sends out until major developers have tested it themselves first. Like iH8sn0w said, it could be a virus.
Retweet and share this tweet to help spread the word about the news. We don’t want people getting messed with if this jailbreak is malicious!
